Cosy Energy-Efficient Lights with the Feelgood Factor of Incandescent Lamps

The brand new OSRAM light colour "Warm Comfort Light" kills two birds with one stone: it allows energy savings of up to 80 percent while bathing bedrooms and the like in cosy energy-efficient light that could easily be mistaken for the welcoming glow of an incandescent lamp. And thanks to the patented "Quicklight" technology, the energy-saving lamp produces its full luminosity in next to no time.

As of August 2009, OSRAM is the first provider in the world to offer an extra warm light colour for energy-saving bulbs. Compared to the conventional colours of "cold white" (left) and "warm white" (centre), energy saving bulbs in the new "warm comfort light" (right) have a new light which is virtually the same as that of conventional bulbs.

The light colour "Warm Comfort Light" lends a new glow to your rooms while still offering all the key advantages of energy-saving lamps in terms of service life and power savings. Replacing a 75 Watt incandescent lamp with a 14 Watt "Warm Comfort Light" energy-saving lamp will save you over EUR 100 in electricity over a service life of ten years while correspondingly cutting down on CO2 emissions.

"The combination of highly attractive colour rendering and tremendous energy savings makes it even easier for consumers to choose the most suitable and most efficient energy-saving lamp for their needs after the demise of the incandescent lamp. With "Warm Comfort Light" and the two light colours "Cool White" and "Warm White", which were already available, customers now have an optimum selection of energy-saving lamps to match their taste and the specific place of use," says Alfred Haas, Head ofConsumer Products, Europe.

Background: as of 1 September 2009, lamps with a high energy consumption, i.e. primarily incandescent lamps, will be gradually phased out in accordance with a new EU Directive and vanish from dealers' shelves. The extensive range offered by OSRAM will help customers make the transition from powerguzzling incandescent lamps to energy-efficient lighting technologies.
