For the first time soft PVC can be permanently protected against fungal and yeast infestation by a product that meets the OEKO-TEX Standard 100, classes I to IV. Sanitized® PL 24-32 combines both aspects and offers this protective function for floor coverings, coated textiles, synthetic leather, tarpaulins, etc.
The colonization of fungi and yeasts on soft PVC is frequently the cause of stains or slimy surfaces. And this applies not only to outdoor use. A fungal infestation in work clothing, gloves, shower curtains or gymnastics mats detracts from their appearance and, at times, leads to material damage or premature material fatigue.
Now, for the first time, there is a product on the market that prevents fungi or yeasts infestation and, at the same time, is safe for man and environment. This has been confirmed by the OEKO-TEX listing for classes I to IV, proof of their safety for adults and children. This is a distinct advantage for end products striving to obtain OEKO-TEX certification. The product is phthalate-free and has excellent UV and heat resistance (compared to the active ingredient DCOIT). Furthermore, the new Sanitized® PL 24-32 material protection is effective against streptoverticillia, which cause the “pink stain” that frequently occurs on soft PVC. In addition, it is an attractive alternative to the controversial arsenic-containing active ingredient OBPA.
As the product manager in charge, Dr. Bruno Piastra, explains: “Reliable material protection by Sanitized® PL 24-32 in combination with the OEKO-TEX listing opens numerous new fields of application for soft PVC producers”.
