The PPG Industries Foundation has donated $4,000 and PPG Porter Paints has donated $300 to support bringing the "Fractured Physics" educational outreach program to the Louisville Science Center, June 10-12, to coincide with GAS 2010, the 40th Annual International Glass Art Society Conference in Louisville.
Created by Carnegie Science Center in Pittsburgh, through a partnership with PPG Industries (NYSE:PPG) and the PPG Industries Foundation, this science show demonstrates how glass is made, what makes it strong, and how it is adapted for various uses and applications.

PPG Industries Foundation has donated $4,000 and PPG Porter Paints has donated $300 to enable the program's visit to Louisville.
"We are very pleased to have received support from the foundation and PPG Porter Paints to bring ‘Fractured Physics’ to the center during the GAS 2010 conference in Louisville," said Joanna E. Haas, executive director, Louisville Science Center. "We believe the show and the hands-on activities accompanying it will help us to engage visitors in learning about the science and technology behind glass in a fun, relevant and participatory way."
The “Fractured Physics” show teaches participants about glass in an entertaining format that includes various live experiments as well as video segments, some of which feature PPG glass scientists discussing glassmaking and various properties of glass. Accompanying the show is a series of hands-on activities that explore force, motion and the physical properties of glass and plastics.

We hope many visitors to the science center during the show’s run can participate in this unique teaching experience created with help from PPG.”
