Solar Manufacturing a division of Solar Atmospheres Inc and a commercial heat treating company has announced the shipping of a new Model VTC-714 Vertical Top Loading high temperature R&D heating system to the National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) located in Albany, Oregon.
The NETL is a division of DOE's national laboratory system owned and operated by U.S. Department of Energy NETL plays a supportive role in the efforts of DOE to improve United States's national economic and energy security.
The VTL-714 Vertical Top Loading high temperature R& D vacuum heating system has a hot zone with a7.5 in diameter x14 in height. The system endures an operating temperature of 3000 degrees Fahrenheit and utilizes graphite felt insulation and a FlexShield hot face. The vacuum heating system incorporates heating elements, a partial gas system utilizing argon and nitrogen, and a 35 CFM two stage vacuum pumping system, controls of SolarVac 3000 including Honeywell DCP 550 and Allen-Bradley Micrologix 1500.
Solar Manufacturing's vice president of sales Pete Reh said that this was the second vacuum furnace module shipped to NETL by Solar Manufacturing and added, the new VTL-714 furnace model is expected to be deployed to homogenize and heat treat refractory to carryout diffusion couple tests and other types of patented works. He remarked that earlier in 2006 they shipped HFL-2624-2EQ furnace model to NETL.
