Solar Manufacturing, a Solar Atmospheres company, has announced that it has acquired an exclusive license agreement for US Patent Number 7,760,992 from Global Solar Energy of Tucson, Arizona. The patent related to the vacuum furnace industry was obtained after negotiations.
The acquired license is related to hot zone design and covers the usage of different combinations of multiple graphite foil layers that have graphite felt layers interspersed within them. This is designed to obtain a hot zone design with high energy efficiency and improved insulating capacity.
Solar Manufacturing reports that it will be displaying its new GraFFite design at the Furnaces North America Conference and Exhibition to be held from 2 to 3, October 2012, in Nashville, Tennessee. The company will be showcasing a full production model hot zone with dimensions of 36” width, 30” height and 48” length.
The CEO of Solar Atmospheres Group of Companies, William R. Jones, has stated that the company’s engineering and Research & Development departments had been studying the improvements in design for over a year. The GraFFite design was the result of the study. Jones informed that when the GraFFite design was used along with other modifications in the hot zone, it will lead to more than 50% reduction in energy losses.
Solar Manufacturing produces different types of vacuum heat treating and brazing furnaces. The company cooperates with customers in conducting research and developing new processes and applications regarding furnaces.
