Intertek, the leading provider of quality and safety solutions to a wide range of industries worldwide, has launched verification programs for automotive materials “processability” and performance.
This new capability helps automotive companies adopt new lightweight materials, composites, and compounds while helping them meet compliance with the EC integrated approach to reduce CO2 emissions. Intertek supports research and development of new materials by providing laboratory material processing, performance studies and certification programs.
The program has been developed for raw polymer material suppliers, compounders, tier suppliers and car manufacturers to respond on today’s fast developing automotive materials market.
Intertek’s global material “processability” testing and studies programs assist the automotive industry in reducing material development, design and production lead times. In addition, the programs help confirm material performance, durability and manufacturing demands for automotive plastics and composites. These services help clients identify optimal lightweight materials which can be processed and marketed with success.
Intertek plastic and polymer material studies and programs independently assess material performance and behaviour against automotive industry specific standards. Intertek operates injection-moulding machines enabling scale-up of materials into standard sample sizes and real-size components (such as car bumpers). The laboratory simulates manufacturability, performance and durability studies on prototype moulded polymer materials.
