Gurit, a worldwide leading developer and producer of advanced composite materials and technologies, will double the manufacturing capacity for PVCellTM G-Foam core materials in China.
Gurit has decided to double the production capacity for its newly launched, PVC based core material range at China Techno Foam, Qingdao/PR China. This expansion will result in an investment of some CHF 5 million and is targeted to become operational by summer 2011. The PVCellTM G-Foam family, especially developed for the manufacture of wind turbine rotor blades for the Chinese market, has met with very positive customer response since the market launch of the full product portfolio in August.
“After successfully ramping up production, we are very pleased to announce that the manufacturing capacity at China Techno Foam will soon be doubled to meet the increasing demand of the local Chinese wind turbine blade manufacturers,” says Rudolf Gerber, General Manager Wind Energy of Gurit.
By complementing its range of CoreCellTM structural foam products with a range of PVC foams manufactured in China and for China as well as the ability to supply Balsa, Gurit has considerably expanded its position in the materials market for rotor blades that are built using infusion technology. Gurit offers fully tailored and ready-to-use pure foam or combined foam and Balsa core material kits.
