The historic city of Florence was the home of this year's PM World Congress organised and hosted by the European Powder Metallurgy Association. A truly international event it included delegates from some 49 countries in all regions including the Far East, Africa and the Americas. Its appeal meant that it attracted nearly 500 Oral and Poster presentations and some 1300 participants.
The event also included a sell out exhibition with 130 stands covering companies from all parts of the PM supply chain. Jonathan Wroe, EPMA Executive Director said "Florence has proved to be an excellent venue for this truly global event and helped to showcase the recovery that is taking place in our industry".
During the Congress plenary session EPMA President Mr Ingo Cremer presented the EPMA Distinguished Service Awards for 2010 to Professor Paul Beiss and Mr Peter Brewin. In addition EPMA Thesis awards were presented to Dr Claas Bierwisch of Fraunhofer Institute for Mechanics of Materials in Freiburg, Germany and Miss Ilaria Forno of the Politecnico Torino in Italy.
