ESAB Adds New Capabilities in m3 Plasma Cutting Systems

ESAB Welding & Cutting Products, producer of welding and cutting devices and welding filler metals, has introduced additional capabilities in its patented m3 Plasma cutting System.

The system has Micro Nozzle technology and water injection cutting features. It is offered with both a shield-gas system and a novel water injection cutting potential. The new features are formulated to lessen the cost involved in cutting aluminum and stainless steel, reduce the level of impurity and improve the edge quality.

Water Injection cutting provides 100% faster cutting speeds than the shield-gas systems. The m3 Plasma system allows automatic changeover between water-injected plasma cutting and normal dual-gas cutting on the same machine. The inclusion of water injection cutting improves the flexibility of the plasma system with a range of plasma potentialities and choices for cutting stainless steel, carbon steel and aluminum. The water injection module is provided as a new machine or as a retrofit to current m3 Plasma system.

The Micro Nozzle technology included in the Plasma System is meant for thin materials and provides perfect cut edges with no trace of impurities over the thickness of the materials. On thinner materials, where the earlier systems failed to attain sharp edges and quality surfaces, the new technology produces near-laser-quality cutting. The introduction of Micro Nozzle technology makes the m3 Plasma more flexible with broadest range of cutting capabilities.

The m3 Plasma system, designed to work with 200 to 600 A power sources, can cut stainless steel materials up to 6” thickness and provides a total cutting solution for all types of applications.
