Rmax Operating, producer of polyiso building insulation, has proclaimed that its thermal insulation product called TSX-8500 has exceeded the criteria of the 285 standard of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).
The NFPA 285 test detects the flammability properties of non-load-bearing, exterior wall assemblies. A product can clear the test by adequately defying propagation of flame sideways or upright within the wall assembly, or further than a standard distance from the source of flame.
As per the IBC, exterior walls of Type IV, III. II or I structures of any height that comprise foam plastic insulation should undergo additional fire testing. Rmax Operating’s TSX-8500 is a high energy-saving exposed product that can be used in metal and other light commercial building applications
The TSX-8500 is a stiff thermal insulation and foam plastic comprised of closed-cell, eco-friendly, polyisocyanurate foam bonded to an aluminum foil facer reinforced with a glass fiber. The product has passed the UL1715 testing. It comes in various lengths and thicknesses and can be used for cold storage, post frame, agricultural, interior and basement walls and other specialty purposes.
