Coatings specialist, PPG Industries has proclaimed that its two-sided anti-reflective glasses called SOLARPHIRE 2XAR and one-sided anti-reflective glasses called SOLARPHIRE AR are now available with enhanced performance properties.
The anti-reflective glasses now attain up to 96.3% of solar transmittance in the near-infrared and visible bands of the solar spectrum.
With enhanced solar transmittance, the Solarphire AR and 2XAR glasses are ideal for improving the performance of solar PV parts by allowing them to gather and concentrate the solar power more efficiently. The Solarphire AR glass is produced by coating the Solarphire PV photovoltaic glass substrate's surface with PPG's long-lasting patented anti-reflective coating.
The Solarphire AR glass, with a thickness of 3.2 mm, has 93.6% of solar transmittance. Producers of crystalline-silicon modules who substituted the cover plates of their units with Solarphire AR glass stated that the output power of their systems have increased up to 7 W.
The Solarphire 2XAR glass is produced by coating both surfaces of the Solarphire PV glass substrate with PPG's anti-reflective coating. To attain their optimum performance, the Solarphire 2XAR and AR glasses should be tempered.
Stock sheets with dimensions of up to 72„cx90„c can be used. They are cut to require sizes and heat treated in glass fabricators. PPG produces Solarphire 2XAR and AR glasses in thicknesses of 6.0, 5.0, 4.0, 3.2 and 2.5 mm.
