Global supplier of building materials, CEMEX has introduced Promptis, its first worldwide brand of ready-mix concrete. The company will market the quick-formwork removal, fast-hardening concrete technology in Hungary, United Arab Emirates, Lativa, Poland and Austria in the Q2 of 2011.
Promptis is currently available in Croatia, Spain, Israel, Ireland, the United Kingdom and France. Promptis can attain compressive strength within 4 hours, while traditional concrete requires an average of 18 hours. In addition, the workability period of Promptis is more than 90 minutes, enabling easy handling of the material by preventing unexpected hardening, even in adverse conditions. The strength of the ready-mix concrete progresses as it ages, producing a long-lasting material that has optimum resistance to shrinkage cracking.
CEMEX employs its patented advanced admixture technology for the production of Promptis. The technology is available at all ready-mix facilities of CEMEX. The company had conducted two years of extensive research at its Switzerland-based CEMEX Research Group to develop the Promptis technology. Its stringent commercialization method assured the transition from research & development to the commercial production stage. Promptis meets the criteria set by the global standards.
The President for Central Europe and the Middle East at CEMEX, Ignacio Ortiz commented that through the launch of the innovative product, CEMEX’ customers could speed up their construction time and minimize total project expenditures.
