Saudi Organometallic Chemicals Company proclaimed that it has chosen Samsung Engineering to offer engineering, procurement, and construction services for its Aluminum Alkyls production plant in Jubail, Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Organometallic Chemicals is a 50:50 joint venture between Albemarle’s subsidiary Albemarle Netherlands and Saudi Specialty Chemical (SPECIALTY CHEM), an affiliate of SABIC. Samsung Engineering will start the comprehensive engineering works immediately in Seoul, Korea.
Saudi Organometallic Chemicals will construct the new facility at the land owned by the SPECIALTY CHEM in the Jubail Industrial City. The mechanical completion of the plant is anticipated in the third quarter of 2012. In the beginning, the facility will produce 6,000 metric tons of Tri Ethyl Aluminum, an important co-catalyst employed in the manufacturing of polyolefin, per year.
At present, Albemarle is supplying Tri Ethyl Aluminum from its plants located in North America, Asia and Europe. Once the start up operation begins, the new facility will supply the product to the regional clients.
The Vice President of Business Development at Samsung Engineering, Choi stated that the company is happy to secure the contract with Saudi Organometallic Chemicals and its parent entities, Albermale and SABIC.
According to Al Saurage, who works as Executive General Manager at Saudi Organometallic Chemicals, the company is confident about Samsung Engineering’s construction services.
