Low-Emissivity Solar Control Glass from PPG Industries

PPG Industries, a coatings and specialty products firm serving customers in industrial, construction, consumer and transportation markets, has launched a new low-emissivity solar control glass, SOLARBAN 72 STARPHIRE.

The product offers excellent clarity and greater visible light transmittance (VLT). In addition, the SOLARBAN 72 provides high solar control performance.

The low-e glass integrated in a standard 1” insulating glass system provides VLT close to that of the Solarban 60 Starphire glass, however it offers solar control that is 25% higher. The solar control features of the Solarban 72 Starphire glass are same as the Solarban 70XL glass yet the new glass provides natural light, which is 11% higher.

The Solarban 72 Starphire includes one lite with sophisticated triple-silver coating and one lite of uncoated Starphire glass to provide maximum clarity. The Starphire glass, which is made using low-iron formulation, is the most translucent architectural glass in the industry.
