Waste Management, provider of waste management services throughout North America, is establishing a new Vista Landfill facility in Apopka, Florida to deliver organics processing capability to its customers.
The organics facility will process food, yard and wood waste for producing soil amendments. The facility will also produce beneficial products like nutrient-rich organic compost.
The organics facility is part of the company’s expansion plan of organics recycling products. In addition, it plays a key role in the development of innovative, high end markets for organic solutions.
Waste Management has also announced a new organics facility development in Okeechobee, Florida. The company has made investment on new and promising technologies for producing transportation fuels from organic energy. The Texas-based company has also purchased a majority interest in Garick, a company dealing in organic lawn and garden products.
The increasing need for conventional fertilizer alternatives is driving the growth of the composting services market. Hence, many companies and municipalities focus to enhance the recycling of organics for value-added application.
It is shown that more than 80 million tons of organic waste is produced annually in North America and nearly one-third of organic waste is produced in the U.S.
