Leyden Energy has announced that it has unveiled a new line of lithium-ion batteries and also signed a contract with a Canadian supplier of replacement batteries for laptops, tablets and other electronic devices, Dr. Battery. In addition, Leyden Energy has secured $2.96 million funds from the California Energy Commission for monthly production of 10 electric vehicle (EV) batteries.
The new product suite that has been introduced includes 18650 cylindrical cells, pouch-style polymer cells and lithium-ion battery packs with high power. The pouch-style polymer cells are used for smaller consumer electronic devices like PCs tablet computers and the cylindrical cells are used for custom-designed hand-held devices and consumer electronics applications. The high-power batteries are used for sustainable energy management systems and EVs. The next-generation lithium-ion batteries of Leyden Energy undergo thorough testing to make sure that the products are compliant with RoHS, UN and UL safety standards.
According to Aakar Patel, CEO and president of Leyden Energy, they have also launched a pilot facility for manufacturing and testing lithium-ion products in the U.S. The company meets the customer requirements in terms of cost, performance and energy-storage.
The high energy density and superior thermal properties of the Leyden Energy’s batteries makes them ideal for EVs and consumer electronics applications. Also, the durability of the products is suitable for harsh environments in wind and solar energy generation.
