For cleaning and preventing deposits in the Direct Injection Gasoline (DIG) engines, a new gasoline additive has been developed by Afton Chemical, a subsidiary of NewMarket Corporation.
A DIG engine includes a fuel injector, which is placed in the combustion chamber to enhance power and fuel economy. However, harsh environment can produce deposits that block the fuel injection ports, thus reducing the performance of the engines. With the help of the gasoline additive, DIG engines can prevent deposits that accumulate in fuel injectors.
The patented gasoline additive from Afton significantly minimizes deposits in the fuel injector and constant use keeps these injectors clean. In addition to these benefits, the DIG technology offers excellent performance in traditional port fuel injection systems. The new additive technology provides TOP TIER and LAC treat rates to Afton’s customers.
Afton’s Global Fuels Business Manager, Dave DiBerto stated that the DIG technology has undergone several testing and is being used by a number of truck and car manufacturers. DiBerto added that it is the right time to release the additive solution as the number of cars utilizing the DIG technology is increasing continuously.
