Praxair, one of the world’s largest industrial gas companies, and Motiva Enterprises, have entered into a hydrogen supply agreement. Under the terms of the deal, Praxair will deliver hydrogen to Motiva’s petroleum refinery located in Norco, Louisiana. The agreement strengthens Praxair’s growth strategy to address the rising demand of customers in the Mississippi River corridor.
Petroleum refiners use hydrogen to manufacture low-sulfur diesel and various other transportation fuels and demand for these types of fuels continues to rise to meet environmental standards.
Recently, Praxair has planned to extend its hydrogen pipeline complex in Louisiana. This expansion will be carried out by linking the pipeline to a new hydrogen facility, which is under construction in the St. Charles Parish. The plant and the extended pipeline are expected to commence operation in 2012.
The company owns seven hydrogen pipeline systems and over 50 hydrogen production plants across the globe. The entire range of cylinder and industrial gases and refinery services and technologies from Praxair provide significant benefits to global refinery customers.
