Saint Gobain Performance Plastics and Professional Plastics have signed a deal to distribute Meldin 2000, 6000 and 7000 series of polyimide shapes in North America and Southeast Asia. The Meldin 7000 series of thermoset polyimide materials is the latest addition in the Meldin product portfolio.
The polyimide materials are used in challenging applications such as aircraft engine components, semiconductor processing and other demanding markets. The Meldin 7000 series exhibits decreased etch rate in semiconductor process tools, low-outgassing, long lifetime at higher speeds and loads and greater geometric stability at high temperatures. In addition, tests have revealed that the Meldin 7000 series materials have less than 0.04% dimensional variation over a two-day cycling from 73°F to 500°F.
When exposed to high speed and high load, the Meldin 7000 self-lubricating grades do not melt. This is not possible in traditional thermoplastic polymers or PTFE.
The Meldin 7000 Series includes five standard grades such as Meldin 7001, Meldin 7021, Meldin 7211, Meldin 7022 and Meldin 7003. Speed and load limits for self-lubricating grades exceed 1,000,000 in grease or liquid lubricated conditions and surpass 300,000 in dry conditions.
