Ceradyne has secured an Enhanced Small Arms Protective Insert (ESAPI) contract, which is worth about $36.2 million.
Under the terms of the contract, the company will supply ESAPI ceramic body armor plates and will commence shipment in the fourth quarter of 2011. The entire shipment is anticipated to be completed by early 2012.
The ESAPI production release has been issued under the ID/IQ (Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity) contract that was originally signed in October 2008 and it will end in September 2013. The ID/IQ contract is worth $2.37 billion and a balance of about $2.0 billion remains in the contract.
Ceradyne’s President of North American Operations, David P. Reed stated that the company is happy to receive this ESAPI delivery order and expects to meet the quality and delivery needs of the government.
