A new line of industrial lubricants, EvoShield has been launched by Amyris at the Infineon Raceway of Sonoma’s summit. The industrial lubraicant will be formulated by the renewably-sourced synthetic base oil, NovaSpec. This base oil is produced by Novvi, a joint venture between Cosan and Amyris, and is derived from Amyris’s Biofene renewable farnese.
EvoShield is a line of renewably-sourced and high-performance solution that satisfies the lubrication challenges with no compromise in performance or quality. Applications of the new lubricants include gear and turbine, compressor and hydraulic oils. In addition, they are used in specific formulations in the marine and food sectors.
By combining NovaSpec base oils with advanced additive systems, EvoShield lubricants will be enabled to perform in a wide range of applications under intense wear, dirt, moisture and temperature conditions. The combination will also enable the Amyris’ products to enhance major environmental factors, including biodegradability, toxicity and renewability. Amyris plans to start production of EvoShield industrial lubricants before the end of 2011.
Amyris has also demonstrated the performance of its sustainable diesel during the Infineon summit. The company is increasing its Biofene production in the U.S., Europe and Brazil via five production agreements.
