Micromeritics Award Pressure Sorption Analyzer to Universidad Nacional de San Luis

Micromeritics' Grant Selection Committee has selected the recipient of its grant award for the third quarter of 2011. An ASAP 2050 Xtended Pressure Sorption Analyzer has been awarded to the Facultad de Cs Fisico Matemáticas y Naturales, Universidad Nacional de San Luis, San Luis, Argentina.

Dr. Karim Sapag.

According to Dr. Karim Sapag, Principal Investigator, "The ASAP 2050 will be used for experiments focused on the investigation near high vacuum to high pressure adsorption phenomena on a variety of new nanostructured adsorbing materials at different temperatures with different gases. This instrument will service a multi-disciplinary environment consisting of physicists, chemists, and chemical engineers. Research activities will expand the area of material characterization, gas storage, and gas separation by adsorption/desorption measurements with different porous materials like metal-organic-frameworks, carbon nanotubes, activated carbons, mesoporous ordered materials, pillared clays, among others." Professor Sapag is currently the Director of the Solid Porous Laboratory and Associate Professor of Physics at the Universidad Nacional de San Luis. He has published numerous works in a wide variety of peer reviewed journals.

According to Preston Hendrix, Micromeritics' president, "This program is designed to promote and advance the acquisition and use of particle characterization instrumentation in non-profit universities and institutions where other means of funding are not generally available. We are very proud and excited to present this award in an ongoing grant program to support important research." Mr. Hendrix has appointed a special Grant Selection Committee to ensure the success and effectiveness of this program.

Micromeritics' Instrument Grant Program is intended to provide particle characterization instruments to non-profit universities and research organizations for the purpose of fostering and supporting meritorious research projects. A maximum of one instrument/integrated system will be awarded per calendar quarter. The next grant decision will be made prior to 12/31/11. The next application deadline is also 12/31/11 for a 03/31/12 grant decision.

Applications may be submitted at any time in accordance with the application instructions and will remain active for a period of one year from the date of submission. Visit Grant Program for a detailed grant description, application requirements, and application.
