CEMEX in Germany announced that it has been chosen as a building materials supplier for the new Berlin-Brandenburg (BER) airport project.
The company supplies special concrete screed topping for application on the floor of the central air passenger terminal, which is the core part of the new airport.
The airport is expected to be fully operational in 2012 and it is estimated that nearly 27 million local and international passengers will pass via the six-story terminal complex. To withstand heavy loads, the terminal requires an extremely high performance floor structure. The complex has a total floor area of 280,000 sq. m and comprises main, north, and south piers. CEMEX in Germany produces innovative TCF TEFROTEX Concrete Floor and calcium sulfate screed for the Berlin airport at its ready-mix concrete facilities.
G. Theodor Freese (GTF), a contractor based in Germany, has been selected to deliver floor coating, cement screed and waterproofing in the central air passenger terminal and the three piers and heated screed construction in the main pier and terminal. Joerg Stengel, CEO of GTF, remarked that for a major project like Berlin-Brandenburg airport, competent and dependable suppliers such as CEMEX are required as partners.
CEMEX’s aggregates, ready-mix concrete, cement and other products are used globally in various construction projects ranging from infrastructure to commercial, industrial and commercial applications.
