Umeco, a provider of composite solutions, has displayed its products at the opening ceremony of the National Composites Centre on 24 November 2011 at the Bristol & Bath Science Park located close to Bristol, the United Kingdom.
Umeco has exhibited its various composite solutions that find applications in industries such as renewable energy, aerospace and automotive. The products include a Ginetta F400 sportscar, Delta Motorsport E-4 Coupe electric car, a wing section of a tidal turbine blade and a root section. These products have illustrated Umeco’s expertise, technology and products in fields such as body panel systems and out-of autoclave processing that are critical for the automotive and aerospace markets.
Umeco was an initial member of the National Composites Centre and is one of the board members of the National Composites Centre along with the other major firms including Agusta Westland, Vestas, Rolls Royce, GKN and Airbus.
Umeco Composites Structural Materials’ Managing Director, Jon Mabbitt commented that the opening of the National Composites Centre has illustrated the dedication of the UK to exploit the composites market for its economic growth. As a member of the National Composites Centre, the company can work closely with major producers worldwide and academics in the UK to develop and commercialize novel technologies, Mabbitt added.
The National Composites Centre’s Chief Executive, Peter Chivers stated that the center is an asset to optimize the opportunities of the composite industry and can be helpful for companies producing composites for various industries.
