Corning has declared its plans to participate in the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) to be held in Las Vegas. The company will demonstrate the role of highly engineered specialty glass in meeting current trends, including robust large-format design aesthetics, touch technology, enhanced functionality from smaller form factors and connected devices in latest application spaces.
The main highlight at the CES show will be next-generation cover glass for electronic devices called ®Gorilla® Glass 2. This cover glass is damage-resistant and is a significant achievement for the company. The product is popular across mobile device industries.
According to Corning Specialty Materials’ James R. Steiner, tablet and handset device makers expect higher functionality from compact designs. Corning’s new Gorilla Glass technology is designed to address these challenges and allows wider touch technology penetration.
Steiner added that visitors at the CES show can familiarize themselves with Corning experts and technologies that have the most up-to-date applications of Corning Gorilla Glass innovations.
The company will also explore the advantages of Corning Gorilla Glass in-touch displays for entertainment, education, auto, and home appliance applications having latest design possibilities. For instance, an 82” multi-touch LCD display model has the Corning Gorilla Glass as a cover glass and a centerpiece video wall and sound speakers is covered with Gorilla Glass. The design possibilities are immense with the new Gorilla Glass technology.
Corning’s Chief Technology Officer, Dr. Peter Bocko will discuss the latest advancements in screen resolution, sunlight performance, viewing angle, and power consumption in the session ‘ Beyond the Flat Screen’ to be held on January 12, 2012.
