Earth911, a company that compiles a comprehensive recycling directory, and the plastics division of the American Chemistry Council (ACC), an organization representing leading plastic companies, have partnered for a plastics recycling program.
Several users were not aware of ways and locations for recycling their plastics, as collection varies from municipality to municipality. Hence, to overcome these obstacles, both organizations worked together to help consumers halp identify opportunities for recycling in their own societies.
VP of ACC’s plastic division, Steve Russell stated that they are excited to collaborate with Earth911 and help consumers to carry out plastic recycling in a simple and easy way.
Earlier, municipalities will be requesting for plastics by using their resin identification code. But recently, they have changed the format and are asking residents to throw plastic bottles and other plastic containers in their recycling bins. This change encourages large number of people to recycle plastics.
As a part of the program, Earth911.com has added plastic film such as shrink wrap and plastic containers such as to-go containers and butter tubes to its Recyclopedia, a guide that provides information on ways to recycle and discard over 90 products. Thus, the database and online resources of Earth911 make plastics recycling easier and more convenient.
