China BAK Battery, a manufacturer of lithium-based battery cells, has inked a supply agreement with Chery Automobile, a China-based company, on February 10, 2012.
According to the contract, China BAK‘s Tianjin facility will provide Chery with high-power batteries that are used in electric cars, Ruilin M1.
China BAK will offer 100 units of high power lithium-ion batteries to Chery, under the terms of the agreement. These batteries will power the electric cars of Chery during the first half of 2012. Ruilin M1 is the first lithium-ion electric vehicle of Chery. This EV was officially introduced by the company at the 25th World Electric Vehicle Symposium and Exposition conducted during November 2010. By the end of 2012, China BAK will supply these lithium-ion batteries to Chery’s electric vehicles.
According to China BAK’s CEO, Mr. Xiangqian Li, the company is delighted to extend its collaboration with Chery Automobile, which is one of its long-term associates in China. China BAK and Chery have a good collaboration in the electric vehicles section. The company’s customers are elated with the performance and quality of all delivered units. He added that China BAK may secure further supply contracts from Chery during the second half of 2012. It is expecting extra domestic customers in order to get contracts for electric vehicle batteries during the year, 2012.
