SPI: The Plastics Industry Trade Association has announced that the NPE2012 international plastics exposition is to take place in Orlando, Florida at the Orange County Convention Center, April 1-5, 2012. The Technology Central and Technical Education Program will be exclusively sponsored by the Dow Chemical Company (Dow).
The Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) ANTEC 2012 and the NPE trade show are to be co-located and Dow has committed to underwrite the ANTEC program, which will feature over 500 peer-reviewed technical presentations. Representatives from Dow’s Performance Plastics Division will be presenting fourteen technical papers.
As part of the Technology Central sponsorship, Dow will sponsor a technology theatre for demonstrations and presentations, four multi-exhibitor specialty pavilions and the International Plastics Design Competition of the SPI. The SPI is also the founder and producer of the NPE triennial exposition.
At the exhibition, around eight global manufacturers of machinery will be demonstrating on-site production using Dow’s resins.
SPI Executive VP of Trade Shows and Conferences, Gene Sanders, commented that Dow’s participation showed the interest and involvement of resin manufacturers. The NPE2012 show will also include special-program displays, conference presentations and customer hospitality centers located close to the convention center, in addition to its booths at the show, he said.
The Commercial VP for Dow’s North America Performance Plastics, Mauro Gregorio, stated that Dow has expressed its support for the industry through its participation in the various NPE2012 programs. The company is specifically interested in the importance for innovation in the numerous NPE programs, and will be providing presentations on relevant topics, he added.
