Milliken Buys Webcore’s Fiber Reinforced Composite Assets

Milliken & Company has declared the purchase of certain assets related to fiber reinforced core, of Ohio-based Webcore Technologies. WebCore is the manufacturer of TYCOR, a patented core material. TYCOR is utilized in several applications such as in transportation, wind energy, and in infrastructure markets.

According to Joe Salley, Chief Executive Officer of Milliken, the TYCOR material’s addition has shown the company’s continuous commitment to improvement and the confidence in marketing products, which assist sustainability, improve lives and enhance safety and health. He added that using TYCOR material, the company can make a difference to the clients by supporting them in manufacturing wind turbine blades that are more efficient and inexpensive to build.

Sim Skinner, Milliken’s President of performance products stated that this technology in line with the company’s performance materials and composites portfolio that helps to handle the significant challenges in infrastructure and building markets in the world. TYCOR is an excellent example of the impact that can be created on sustainability challenges when innovation is integrated with design and science.

The company has announced the plan of continuing the development and commercialization of the TYCOR product line, which is built on TYCOR's success in wind energy, and will expand the worldwide availability of the product.
