BASF, a chemical company, announced that it will exhibit its plastics solutions at NPE2012 International exhibition, which will be held in Orlando, Florida from April 1 to 5.
The company works with packaging designers, engineers and manufacturers to develop innovative solutions, including acoustical foams, biodegradable plastics, additives for plastics, and soft and robust thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPU). BASF continues to focus on developing more vibrant, innovative and sustainable plastics and increase the use of plastics in energy, resources, construction and transportation.
BASF will exhibit a range of innovative products and technologies, including Elastollan TPU, Tinuvin XT, E-Por, Ultrason P 3010 PPSU, and Ultramid ENDURE at NPE2012. Elastollan 785A10HPM is a new high-temperature TPU ideal for wire and cable and automotive applications. The material can be used at 150°C and offers outstanding performance at high temperatures. It also provides superior resistance to fuels and chemicals, exceptional surface reproducibility, and enhanced compression set. Elastollan 1185A10HFFR is another high performance TPU developed for wire and cable applications. It is a halogen-free, low smoke flame retardant, which offers fungus resistance, hydrolytic stability, superior low temperature flexibility, toughness and exceptional abrasion resistance.
BASF will also showcase Tinuvin 1600, a newly launched ultraviolet (UV) light absorber. The material delivers continuous protection to high-performance thermoplastics from UV and helps to increase the life and durability of products. E-Por, a viscoelastic foam, has been developed by the company for sustainable packaging application in the electronics industry.
Another innovative product line to be displayed at the event is Ultramid ENDURE, a highly heat-resistant series of plastics. It is ideal for using as an alternative to metal in automotive engines and helps to decrease weight and cost. In addition, BASF will feature the world’s first full plastic wheel concept, which is produced using Ultramid Structure. Ultramid Structure is an impact-resistant specialty polyamide material that makes the wheel 30% lighter than a standard aluminum wheel.
