BASF, a chemicals company, announced an investment of €150 million to establish a new chemical manufacturing facility in Gujarat, India. The facility will be an integrated center for polyurethane manufacturing and will be located at the Dahej Petroleum, Chemicals and Petrochemicals Investment Region (PCPIR).
The Dahej site will include an integrated polyurethane manufacturing facility and production facilities for polymer dispersions and care chemicals for paper and coatings. Through the new production facility, the company aims to meet the growing demand of the local markets and industries, including personal care, paper, coatings, adhesives, construction, automotive, footwear and appliances. The site will also help to offer efficient technologies for water and energy conservation through shared infrastructure and advanced production systems. The advanced design of the facility takes advantage of BASF’s latest technologies across the world and assures safe and responsible operations.
The polyurethane facility at the Dahej site will manufacture Elastollan thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), Cellasto noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) components and polyurethane systems.
The care chemicals facility will manufacture surfactants for home and personal care products. In addition, these surfactants will add value to various formulation technology applications, including emulsion polymerization, textiles and agrochemicals. The polymer dispersions plant will produce Styrofan and Acronal, which are major ingredients for construction, adhesives and architectural coatings. The plant will also produce Basoplast for sizing applications and Basonal and Styronal for paper coating.
