Jacobs Engineering Group has received an engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPCM) services contract from Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) in order to upgrade an Olefins 4 plant located at the petrochemical production complex of SABIC in Galeen, The Netherlands.
The company has scheduled to complete the project in 2013. Jacobs is carrying out the work from its office located in The Netherlands that is very near to the project site. Under this project, the previous Olefins 4 naphtha cracker will be subjected to many alterations and is expected to considerably increase the energy efficiency and to increase the production of ethylene.
According to Robert Matha, the VP of Jacobs Group, the company is elated to obtain this new EPCM contract from SABIC at Geleen site. It has supported the business objectives of SABIC at Geleen for several years, he stated.
Riyadh-based SABIC ranks as one of the top petrochemical companies in the globe and is a producer of polypropylene, polyethylene, and other advanced thermoplastics, methanol, glycols, and fertilizers. SABIC has 12 production plants in Europe that generate chemical precuts, engineering thermoplastics, polypropylenes and polyethylenes.
The Geleen manufacturing complex is one of the key production location of SABIC. Additionally, SABIC has three research units in the region that forms part of its worldwide Technology and Innovation organization.
