Georgia Gulf, the North American company that manufactures two chemical lines and vinyl based products, is partnering with InPro to support the latter’s efforts towards incorporating sustainability in their PVC-based products.
InPro produces washroom systems, protection for walls and doors, expansion joint systems, commercial surfaces, privacy curtains, cubicle track and signage. Georgia Gulf can fulfill InPro’s sustainability requirements through its rigid and flexible vinyl compound products that are free of heavy metals and phthalates. Most of the environmental friendly products engineered by Georgia comply with the GREENGUARD Environmental Institute formulated indoor-air standards which comprises the most rigorous test for volatile organic compounds emission for products deployed in indoor spaces like offices. Georgia manufactures more than 25% of its vinyl products from renewable resources, thereby making it eligible for the USDA bio-preferred label.
Georgia Gulf will supply the novel flexible, bio-based, phthalate-free compound, Segetis to InPro. The plasticizers incorporating the Javelin technology facilitate low migration and exceptional permanence as they are remarkably compatible with PVC across a vast loading range. These features in addition to the low vapor pressure of the plasticizer are vital for InPro’s applications. The latest sustainability innovation of Georgia is the launch of a new rigid vinyl compound that aims to substitute stabilization by heavy metal compounds with an organic-based stabilizer system.
Glenn R. Kennedy, Chief Operating Officer of InPro, expressed excitement at being the first company in the country to feature sustainable PVC products by collaborating with Georgia Gulf to develop bio-based compounds for PVC.
