BASF, the world's leading chemical company, participated in the Dubai Plast Pro 2012: 14th World Congress organized by IHS Chemical. Hosted 15th- 17th October at the Raffles Hotel, Dubai Plast Pro 2012 is an international congress and exhibition, placing emphasis on shifting to higher value performance polymer technologies, production, and processing with increasing requirements for the converting and fabricating industry in the Middle East.
BASF presented two key subjects at Dubai Plast Pro 2012. Guest Speaker Burak Emiralioglu from BASF Turkey presented 'Recent Challenges in Coloration, Light Stabilization and Flame Retardant of Polypropylene (PP) Fibers', which covered recent trends and developments of the fiber industry, with a particular focus on PP Fibers. Emiralioglu emphasized that sustainability, quality and durability remain key attributes particularly when it comes to long-lasting products such as PP carpets, artificial turf and nonwoven applications. BASF innovative solutions and long-lasting know-how of high performance pigments, state of the art UV-light stabilizers and halogen-free flame retardants will enable fiber producers to solve current as well as future challenges, Emiralioglu added.
Guest Speaker Andreas Thuermer from BASF Switzerland presented 'Industry Focused Stabilization Concepts for Polyolefins and Selected Engineering Resin Applications' which covered efficient stabilization concepts for thermoplastics and the importance for consistency in processing as well as for a reliable long-term performance of the finished article. 'Selected examples covering polyethylene cables and rotational molding illustrate the impact of improved stabilization in respect of long-term stability and processing performance. Advanced stabilization for Polycarbonate and Polyester sheets & glazing add other examples of innovative applications, requiring improved performance for increasingly demanding needs of the industry', said Thuermer.
