Morgan Advanced Materials (MTC) With MTC’s in-house expertise and capabilities, there is no need to outsource machining of MACOR®when manufacturing custom made parts. MTC is an approved distributor of Corning MACOR® through its Wesgo/Duramic facility, in Fairfield NJ.
MTC has developed and supplied components manufactured from MACOR® for use in ultra-high or constant vacuum environments, as well as in aerospace and nuclear applications. Fixtures for high heat electrical cutting operations are also excellent uses for the material. More recently, producers of medical components are using the material in complex ceramic assemblies for surgical tools, medical instrumentation, and therapeutic and diagnostic equipment.
MTC Wesgo/Duramic specializes in machining MACOR®into complicated parts with precision tolerances, up to 0.0005inches. The material can be machined to a surface finish of less than 20µin. and polished to a smoothness of 0.5µin.-Ra. Machining can be done quickly and inexpensively, with no requirement for post-machining firing.Customers will not experience any post-fabrication shrinkage. No expensive hardware or costly diamond tools are required to meet specifications. MTC Wesgo/Duramic uses a wide range of techniques and processes to machine MACOR®glass ceramic, perfecting its techniques by drawing on more than 60 years of experience with machining ceramics. Configurations are limited only by available equipment and the experience of the user.
From feedthroughs to hermetic seals, to insulators and supports, MTC’s machining capabilities result in products manufactured to the tightest of tolerances. For more information, view our recently released video, whichexplains machining techniques used for MACOR®, and gives practical recommendations on parameters for slicing/saw cutting, turning, milling, grinding, and drilling.
