Datacolor®, a global leader in color management solutions, today announced the launch of Datacolor Viewport™, a first-of-its-kind technology that captures color-accurate product images of non-solid fabrics.
The technology allows for an objective digital color process for traditionally visually assessed material. Designed to meet the needs of product quality control operators and color analysts, Viewport’s accurate imaging technology enables remote visualization and color evaluation for a wide range of products under multiple lights, thus eliminating the need to send physical samples and risking human error while assessing color.
Based on patent-pending technology, Viewport makes it possible to accurately and efficiently control color quality for heather, lace, denim, towels, fabric prints/patterns, wall coverings and a variety of multi-color products, making it particularly well-suited for the textile industry. Datacolor Viewport will speed up the approval process and improve product quality for materials that are currently evaluated visually. By combining precisely calibrated imaging with a web-based image communication platform, Viewport offers the benefits of visual evaluation along with the objectivity of color-by-numbers.
“Eliminating the need to ship physical samples is a significant benefit to both the supplier and buyer in the supply chain,” said Eric Alho, product marketing manager at Datacolor. “Datacolor Viewport provides suppliers and their customers the ability to simultaneously view and analyze color quality in multiple light references using color-calibrated image capture technology, which simplifies the approval process and ensures that the color is accurate, consistent, and produced on time.”
Through its cloud server technology, Viewport is able to share data instantly and securely anywhere around the globe. Via cloud-based repositories, users have immediate remote access to color-accurate fabric images. With Viewport, information and images can be easily posted and submitted on the web along with the ability to approve or reject, archive, and search samples.
Using Datacolor Viewport, global supply chains will be able to see more accurate results on a consistent basis. Both supplier and buyer will be able to benefit from adding reliability, objectiveness, and speed to the visual approval processes currently being used.
