Morgan Thermal Ceramics’ Ciria Engineering business, a leader in the design and manufacture of advanced heat insulation products, has been named ‘Supplier of the Year’ by Tata Chemicals, a global company specialising in chemicals and crop nutrition. The award further highlights the Morgan Thermal Ceramic’s ongoing commitment in delivering high quality engineering solutions to its customers.
The award recognises the exceptional service provided by Morgan Thermal Ceramics during the modification, supply and installation of a range of engineering products and solutions in the Ammonia facility at Tata Chemicals’ site in Babrala, Uttar Pradesh. The company manufactures urea fertiliser at its Babrala facility.
Engineers from Morgan Thermal Ceramics worked around the clock over the course of one month to install a range of new refractory materials, including its Pyro-Bloc® burner bloc modules and insulating fire bricks, optimising the unit’s cold collector and primary reformer lining.
Morgan Thermal Ceramics’ technical expertise was also called upon for advice on whether a secondary reformer vessel – susceptible to high pressure and temperature – required replacement. Engineers were able to analyse and assess the equipment, identify that no damage to the refractory material had been caused and advise the customer that lining replacement was not needed, realising significant cost savings for Tata Chemicals.
Pankaj Mehrotra, Head of Operations at Morgan Thermal Ceramics – Ciria, based in New Delhi, India, commented: “Leading manufacturers such as Tata Chemicals demand the highest levels of quality and safety from their suppliers, and we believe being named ‘Supplier of the Year’ effectively demonstrates that we have provided an exceptional service to this customer. We deployed approximately 200 individuals to complete the job over the month, helping to achieve substantial thermal improvements to the site and other cost benefits through our technical knowledge and understanding.
“We are thrilled with the award from Tata Chemicals, and look forward to delivering best practice in high quality thermal engineering solutions for the company in years to come.”
