The polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) technology was adopted in China some fifty years ago to make a vinylon (vinalon) fiber that was widely exploited in the making of various textiles back then.
However, it was not until the 1980s that the country’s PVA industry began thriving, when this synthetic polymer was created for use in applications other than vinylon production, such as paper coatings, adhesives, emulsion polymerization, polymer films, reprography, medicine and biotechnology, etc. In 2000, China’s total installed capacity for PVA climbed to almost 330,000 tonnes per year. In 2007, the figure surpassed 660,000 tonnes per year, with the output reaching nearly 480,000 tonnes.
Some of the dominant market players in China include, among others, Sinopec Sichuan Vinylon Factory, Inner Mongolia Shuangxin Environment-friendly Material Co., Ltd., Anhui Wanwei Updated High-tech Material Industry Co., Ltd., Inner Mongolia Mengwei Technology Limited Liability Company, Fujian Fuwei Co., Ltd., and Lanzhou Xinxibu Vinylon Co., Ltd.
New market research report “Production and Market of Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA) in China” elaborated by CCM International Limited (CCM) provides a wealth of exclusive information and in-depth analysis on the Chinese polyvinyl alcohol industry performance.
The study gives a look at the major raw materials for polyvinyl alcohol, scrutinizes supply and demand situation during 2008-2012, analyses key influencing factors, reviews polyvinyl alcohol import and export dynamics during 2011-2012, features consumption pattern of the product by downstream industries, offers a guide to pricing for the polymer, as well as outlines future market trends and opportunities. Further, the competition analysis along with the information on the top polyvinyl alcohol producers in China can also be found in the research.
