Carbon Composite Components for Airbus A-380

Hitco Carbon Composites (located in Califormia, USA), a subsidiary of SGL Carbon have just been awarded a contract from Airbus to design and manufacture the 7-rib truss structure for the A-380’s vertical tail plane.

In conjunction with Airbus in Hamburg, Germany, Hitco will develop and manufacture what is estimated to be in excess of 600 ship sets. Hitco will design a the components so that they have a reduced weight and lower production cycle time.

Hitco will leverage off experience gained from manufacturing components for the defence, aerospace and industrial applications using advanced composite materials.
