metalweb, one of the UK’s leading stockists of specialist metals, has offered its first ‘on-the-job’ learning and development programme, focusing on Business Improvement Techniques (“B-iT”), for Birmingham-based employees.
The B-iT training will offer project based learning, which is presented by Transcend Group Ltd and covers areas such as; workplace organisation (5S), Kaizen (continuous improvement), problem solving (8D) and Health & Safety. This supports metalweb’s operational strategy of implementing lean manufacturing techniques into the workplace. This training is initially being held at the Birmingham site. Other metalweb sites across the UK will receive the same training later this year.
Tony Heard, Operations Director at metalweb said: “metalweb prides itself on ensuring staff have the correct and most up to date skills to carry out their day to day duties.
“I think project based training is a great way to learn as this will mean less ‘classroom’ teaching and will require staff to put into practice what they have learnt on to the shop floor.
“This is yet another step towards our goal of creating a world class operation and will accelerate the transformation of the Birmingham site even further.”
