EpiGaN nv, a leading provider of III-nitride epitaxial materials, was awarded the title of National Trends Gazelle Ambassador 2014 in the category ‘Starter’ by Trends, a leading financial-economics Belgian magazine.
The annual award recognizes EpiGaN for its fast growth in revenue and employees in a three-year time span. It was further selected for its highly innovative products addressing a very large and international market, offering further growth perspective and local job creations. And this is just the beginning, as we are in the middle of expanding our production capacity to support volume growth driven by our worldwide customers.”
EpiGaN covers silicon wafers with a layer of Gallium Nitride (GaN). These GaN-on-Si (Gallium Nitride on Silicon) epitaxial wafers are used to make high voltage power transistors and high frequency RF (Radio Frequency) components that helps towards reducing energy losses, increasing the performance and reducing the size of applications such as adaptors for consumer electronics, industrial and server power supplies, AC drives, cellular base stations, cable TV infrastructure, hybrid and electric vehicles, etc.
The company has installed its manufacturing facilities in Hasselt, Belgium, where it found the required clean-room environment. It is ideally located in a very international area in the triangle Aachen, Eindhoven en Leuven. EpiGaN is one of the few Flemish companies that manufacture high tech semiconductor products in Flanders, creating local jobs and contributing to the local economy.
