Edwards Limited, today announced its plans for participation at SEMICON® West, taking place July 8-10, 2014, in San Francisco, Calif., USA.
Edwards will present on the environmental effects of semiconductor manufacturing, and will discuss solutions and strategies for minimizing the impact, at these Sustainable Manufacturing Forum sessions:
Session 5 (July 8, 1:30-3:00): Green House Gas (GHG) Assessment: Joe VanGompel, Performance Services Manager, Edwards, will discuss abatement of nitrous oxide (N2O) during semiconductor manufacturing.
Session 6 (July 8, 3:30-5:00): Advanced Abatement Systems: Mike Czerniak, Product Marketing Manager, Edwards, will talk about abatement challenges due to increased process gas flow rates and strategies for harmonizing and integrating the operation of vacuum pumps and abatement systems as a complete post-process-tool solution.
“At Edwards, we view sustainable manufacturing and environmental stewardship as key components of our corporate mission,” said Scott Balaguer, President – US & Europe, Edwards. “We actively seek opportunities to accomplish this through technical innovation in our products and application development with our commercial partners. SEMICON West provides an excellent platform to share best practices in these critical areas with our industry colleagues.”
The Sustainable Manufacturing Forum has been organized by SEMI’s Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Division, in conjunction with SEMICON West, to share information about the latest technologies, products, and management approaches that promote sustainable manufacturing. Experts from the industry will address a wide variety of environment, health and safety, sustainability and social responsibility topics that affect semiconductor manufacturing. More information about the Sustainable Manufacturing Forum can be found at: www.semiconwest.org.
Edwards has also received the North America Standards Merit Award in recognition of Mike Czerniak’s contribution within the Information & Control Committee, specifically in the development and publication of SEMI E167 (Specification for Equipment Energy Saving Mode Communications [EESM]) and E167.1 (SECS-II Protocol for EESM). These standards provide further opportunities for cost reductions (via reduced energy consumption) within the semiconductor industry.
In addition, Adrienne Pierce, Director Business Development, Edwards, will be presenting the closing notes at the TechXPOT South during the “Subcomponent Supply Chain Challenges for 10nm and Beyond” session on Wednesday, July 9 (10:30 to 12:30).
