The Teijin Group announced that Toho Tenax Co., Ltd., the group's carbon fibers and composites business, and Shanghai-based Teijin Aramid Asia Co., Ltd., the group's aramid fibers business, will join China Composites Expo 2014, Asia's largest composites exhibition, in Shanghai from September 3 to 5. Some 450 companies will take part in the annual show.
The Teijin booth (stand A1020) will showcase innovative applications for carbon- and aramid-fiber-reinforced composites developed by the Teijin group, a world leader in high-performance fibers.
A number of carbon fiber reinforced thermoplastic (CFRTP) technologies will be on display, including TENAX® TPCL, a thermoplastic consolidated laminate for the A350 XWB aircraft, Airbus’s new extra-wide-body midsize jetliner. Another molded product, bicycle wheels made with improved ultra-lightweight carbon fiber fabrics, and specially designed carbon fibers for pressure vessels, also will be exhibited.
Teijin Aramid Asia will present two filament yarns, Twaron® Black and Technora® Black, both deep-black versions of high-modulus para-aramid fibers that were originally available only in yellow. The fibers are highly suited to applications requiring stiffness, strength, lightness and beauty, such as boat hulls and sails, motorcycle helmets, hockey sticks and other sporting goods. Other aramid composite applications on display will include, pressure vessel circuit breaker rods and various uses in civil engineering.
The Teijin Group combines high-strength, high-modulus carbon fibers and aramid fibers with resin to produce various composite materials for use in lightweight products. Such materials enable energy-saving and eco-minded solutions, making them increasingly in demand in China, one of the Teijin Group’s key growth markets.
