Markes International (Llantrisant, UK), a specialist manufacturer of innovative analytical instrumentation for trace organic analysis, has announced the appointment of a new Technical Marketing Director, Massimo Santoro.
Santoro joins Markes following a highly successful 20-year career in the analytical sciences. With a background in forensic science Santoro has had product-focused and sales roles at PerkinElmer, followed by experience in global marketing of quadrupole mass spectrometry and GC solutions at ThermoFisher Scientific. In his new role at Markes, he will be taking responsibility for all aspects of marketing the company’s long-established thermal desorption (TD) products and their new range of time-of-flight mass spectrometry (TOF MS) technologies.
Speaking of the new appointment, Markes’ Director Alun Cole said “The success of Markes has been founded on continual product innovation, and in hiring the best available talent for engaging with our customers and understanding their needs. We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved over the last 17 years and are delighted that, in Massimo, we have found a director that shares our passion – both for the technology and for the advanced capabilities these powerful systems offer GC users – Massimo is a perfect complement to our experienced management team.”
Santoro will head-up a well-established and talented marketing team at Markes, who recently received a prestigious ‘Canmol: Wales Marketing Award’ for the launch of their ground-breaking Select-eV technology for BenchTOF. The appointment comes at the same time as the promotion of Dr Caroline Widdowson and Dr Laura McGregor to the positions of TD and TOF Product Marketing Managers, respectively.
