BASF Corporation has teamed up with Yankee Stadium to knock waste out of the park by tackling zero-waste initiatives at the 2014 New Era Pinstripe Bowl, when the Pennsylvania State University Nittany Lions will face the Boston College Eagles on December 27th at 4:35 p.m.
In addition to the New Era Pinstripe Bowl, BASF partnered with the New York Yankees at the conclusion of the 2014 season and is continuing in 2015. BASF will sponsor zero-waste initiatives at Yankee Stadium, inspiring fans to strike out landfills. Yankee Stadium is a leading proponent of zero-waste initiatives, currently diverting more than 80 percent of its waste stream away from landfills into composting and recycling centers.
"At BASF we believe that chemistry is the enabler for a sustainable future. We are excited about our partnership with Yankee Stadium and the opportunities to show the many contributions our chemistries make to eliminate waste and boost efficiency," said Charlene Wall-Warren, BASF Director of Sustainability. "When people visit the Stadium, they can see first-hand how BASF makes the products they use more sustainable."
Guests attending events at Yankee Stadium can see the ways BASF chemistry and innovations make everyday products -- from paper to plastic packaging -- fully compostable, drastically reducing the amount of landfilled waste generated in the Stadium. Guests are also treated to a sustainability fact of the game highlighting the many initiatives Yankee Stadium has undertaken to promote the kind of environmentally-conscious practices that increase energy efficiency and reduce waste.
