SciAps Announces New App to Analyze Entire Periodic Table of Elements in a few Seconds with their Handheld Analyzer

SciAps has released a new App for their handheld LIBS analyzers (Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy) called ElementPro.

When combined with their patented Z-500 LIBS analyzer, the device measures the entire Periodic Table of Elements in a few seconds.  When presented to a sample of material, the analyzer obtains a spectrum and automatically locates all of the emission lines of elements detected.

The App contains a proprietary library of emission lines and relative intensities for every element that are excited by our LIBS device.  From the found lines and the library ElementPro displays all elements detected, with approximate relative abundances. A typical display is shown below.

According to SciAps Product Manager , what’s really unique about ElementPro is an operator can test any sample, regardless if there are calibrations on the device, to at least get an idea about what elements are in a material and very approximate relative amounts.

We have many customers whom often encounter totally unknown materials, and they have no way to know what elements may be present because their typical analytical instruments require quantitative calibartions, or laborious manual spectral analysis.

With ElementPro they can shoot anything and see a list of elements present.  If desired, they can then use our desktop/tablet software package ProfileBuilder to generate quantitative analysis, provided they can obtain a few samples with known concentrations.
