Materials UK Launch Five Reports on Creating a Sustainable Future in Various Materials Fields

Five science and technology reports were launched by Materials UK, the representative body for the UK materials community, on 4 July. The reports identify new opportunities for creating a sustainable future. The DTI has supported and encouraged a materials focus by establishing the Science & Technology Task Group to assess this sector.

The reports cover multifunctional, structural and functional materials, as well as materials modelling and biomaterials, outlining the findings of task groups which consulted with academia and industry. The papers provide recommendations for the materials community to take forward with the government’s backing, such as prioritising R&D and the continuity of funding.

The Science & Technology Group forms part of Materials UK and seeks to encourage innovation and R&D so that the UK can compete in the international marketplace.
