Wavin to Close Injection Moulding Plant in Lichfield

Wavin UK today announces the proposed closure of its manufacturing site in Lichfield (Staffordshire) in the second half of this year. Wavin intends to transfer the injection moulding activities from Lichfield to its site in Doncaster (South Yorkshire). Approximately 115 employees at the Lichfield manufacturing site could potentially be affected by the transfer. Trade Unions have been informed and formal consultation has started.

As part of the integration of Hepworth Building Products (acquired in 2005), Wavin initiated a process to optimise its manufacturing footprint in order to reduce the cost base and further increase customer service levels in the very important and competitive UK market. The proposed closure of the Lichfield site and the transfer of production to the plant in Doncaster is part of this process. Last year extrusion operations in Padiham were relocated to sites in Brandon and Chippenham. Wavin currently holds 8 manufacturing sites in the UK and one in Ireland.
