A Cost Effective Way to Access the 5500 Test Instrument for Biomedical Testing

Bose is keen to encourage biomedical innovation and education, and to ensure that its technology is accessible to researchers and future researchers for whom it could be advantageous. In view of that, the company is launching the Bose® Access program. As part of this global initiative, Bose will offer the versatile Bose 5500 test instrument (Figure 1) as a new package, which also includes a computer, the WinTest® 7 software, and a load cell. Installation and training are also part of the new package.

The Bose Access program is applicable to both academic and industrial settings. It is suitable for fields such as biomedical research; product development for biological products and medical devices; education/teaching in biology and biomedical engineering laboratories.

The Bose 5500 Base System

The Bose 5500 test instrument provides research solutions for educators and innovators (Figure 2). In the academic research, the base system can be applied for the characterization of biomaterials and tissues including the simulation of physiologic loading to trigger cell response. In education and teaching purposes, the Bose 5500 test instrument can be used for understanding the behavior of viscoelastic materials and in biotechnology labs as well as in biomedical courses, including biomechanics and cell biology.

The Bose 5500 test instrument has also found use in the product development stage where it has been used to develop new materials, test medical devices, and perform in vitro testing of pharmaceuticals.
