Energy is a basic component of our everyday lives and plays a key role in global economic growth. Although nonrenewable resources such as coal, oil, nuclear resources, and natural gas have been used to meet most of our energy needs, there has been an increased emphasis on the use of energy through renewable sources such as solar, wind, biomass, hydroelectric, and geothermal.
For more than five decades, Zeus has been providing extruded products or components to support the development of renewable and nonrenewable technologies that address new design challenges.
Electromechanical Insulation
Customized Extrusions and Tubing
Zeus supplies round tubing, extruded profiles, or Lay-Flat® tubing from resins such as FEP, PTFE, PFA and PEEK which can be employed for ground wall or slot liner insulation. The company also offers annealing options to improve dimensional stability at high temperature ranges.
PEEKSHRINK®
PEEKShrink® is a replacement for tapes and films that are widely used for splicing wire. It expedites the manufacturing process and helps achieve a more reliable spliced joint owing to its outstanding thermal, chemical, and electrical properties. Typically, the splice is the weakest point in coil windings. However, using PEEKShrink® makes the splice the strongest and most durable point in the coils. Also, it can be utilized for repairing lead wires or preventive maintenance.
PEEK Lay-Flat®
High Temperature Insulated Wire
Peek Insulated Wire
PEEK has an outstanding dielectric strength of up to 3,000 V/mil*, superior abrasion resistance, and a continuous service temperature of 260 °C/500 °F. It can withstand radiation and moisture. PEEK Insulated Wire is utilized as an ideal magnet wire in electromechanical equipment such as electric motors, transformers, generators, and solenoids, driving their performance in harsh environments. Using PEEK, Zeus can provide insulation to a range of wire types including stranded, square or rectangular profile wires; solid copper; stainless steel and other custom types; and plated (tin, silver, or nickel).
Zeus also offers additional wire coatings such as FEP, ETFE, PFA and PTFE.

Heat Shrink Products
Heat Shrink
Zeus’ heat shrink tubing offers a proven method to apply a tight, protective covering to items exposed to extreme moisture, shock, corrosion, heat, and other environmental conditions. The company produces high-performance heat shrink tubing from a wide range of polymer resins. Its heat shrink products can be used in both low and high temperature applications with expansion ratios up to 4:1.
Zeus also supplies a variety of catalog sizes for heat shrink products such as PTFE, FEP, PTFE/FEP Dual-Shrink®, and PEEKshrink®. The company also provides custom sizes and extruded resins such as PFA upon request.
Fiber Optics for Sensing
Optical Fiber Coatings and Sheathing
Zeus can supply thermally stable PEEK coated optical fibers capable of reaching temperature levels of 260 °C/500 °F. In addition to minimizing attenuation, these coated fibers provide abrasion protection that PEEK is known for. The company holds machine grade tolerances (~0.001” / 0.025 mm) on plastic tubing used as sheathings in fiber optics. The Engineered Surface options offered by Zeus can minimize drag force and friction on tubing used for sheathing. It is possible to introduce fillers such as glass for reducing elongation and promoting bondability of the tubing.

Focus on Encapsulation
Battery Pack Encapsulation
Performance heat shrinks are widely used for battery pack encapsulation. The solution of choice is FEP, but Zeus also offers other heat shrink options including PET, PFA, and PEEKShrink®. These heat shrinks not only provide protection of battery packs against chemicals and moisture, but also serve as an additional thermal barrier.
Core Sample Encapsulation
Zeus offers a wide range of heat shrinks to customers for insulating their core samples and applying a durable, chemically inert skin/jacket. Available options for encapsulation of core samples for later analysis include PFA, PEEKShrink®, and FEP heat shrinkable solutions.
